Meetings, conferences, and classes sure don’t look like they used to for many of us. All over, people are working and learning from home like never before - and taking full advantage of helpful technology like video conferencing.

Zoom is a conferencing service we’ve been hearing about so much in the last few weeks. Zoom allows you to apply a virtual graphic of your choosing to the background of your video; a feature that is equal parts useful and fun. This is perfect if you haven’t quite gotten around to spring cleaning yet – or if you find that your only quiet place is somewhere like a basement or bedroom where you might want to cover up that pile of dirty laundry. Zoom virtual backgrounds also seem to be great for blocking out distractions (especially during larger video meetings) by hiding pets, children, or anyone else who might be roaming around in the background and totally video-bombing your important meeting.

How to Add Zoom Virtual Backgrounds on Mac or PC:

Download Zoom for Mac or PC.
Sign in and click your profile photo.
Select Settings from the drop-down menu, then the Virtual Background tab. (Not seeing the Virtual Background tab? Log in to the Zoom website and check Meeting Settings. Under the Meeting tab, make sure Virtual Background is turned on.)
Select a background or upload your own photo or video.
If you happen have a green screen hand, select “I have a green screen”. (If you don’t have a green screen, Zoom suggests streaming from somewhere with a solid background.)
