The world is abuzz with talk of the Golden Globes this past weekend. From Julia Dreyfus being called out as a popular emoticon and Jeremy Renner referencing Jennifer Lopez’s “globes” to the open-handed N. Korean smack down throughout the show – there were a lot of golden worthy moments this year.

Not to be outdone, The Special Event Conference 2015 had some pretty golden moments of its own, both off and on the red carpet. Let’s take it back to Anaheim for a quick recap.

If you missed out on the Opening Night Afterparty and didn't see our very own fashion expert, Steve Kemble, bowling like a pro, then you missed a moment. As you can see, his form AND his golden fashion are fab-uuuuu-lous (not to mention SASS FAB!)

What are great shows without emotional moments and this year there was a whammy. Michael Cerbelli dropped to his knee and proposed to his girlfriend, Denise Tavaraz at the end of Hot List. Awwww!  Take that Hollywood - the special event industry has our very own “couple” of the year!

How about that SEARCH Foundation Cabaret? AFR Event Furnishings was proud to make a $10,000 donation to the industry-specific charity that does so much for people that we all know and care about. It was a golden evening of great fun for a very worthy cause. If you’re not involved and would like to be, you can find out more information here.

There were many golden nuggets to be found on the Trade Show floor this year, and admittedly while we are a little biased, the AFR Event Furnishings booth was awesome. More importantly, the AFR Team had a great time talking with old friends, meeting new clients and showing off some exciting products for 2015.

At the Leadership Luncheon, industry icon, Andrea Michaels was presented with the Steve Kemble Leadership Award surrounded by friends and colleagues. It was a touching moment for an amazing leader in the special event industry.

And, finally… There were the GALA Awards. The nominees gathered from Canada, China, Germany, India, Ireland, Russia, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States of America to celebrate the best of the best in the special event industry. For a complete list of who took home the “gold”, click here. The after party was amazing, but what happened in “Anaheim” stays in “Anaheim”, and we’ll never tell. Perhaps you’ll find out next year when you attend TSE 2016 in Orlando, Florida!

The team at Penton led by Kim Romano and Lisa Hurley, did an amazing job of pulling together another great conference!  Thank you from all of us out here in the special event world!

This is the Golden Moments Team reporting back from the red carpet at TSE 2015!  Congratulations to all the GALA Award Winners and thanks to all the event pros in attendance for all the golden moments and memories. We’ll be back next year with more fun, winners and fabulous inspiration!
